At the end of February, we took an amazing family vacation with my parents and sister to the beautiful Oahu, Hawaii! My family had not been on a full-on family vacation in years - outside of trips to the Lake of the Ozarks - so this trip was WAY overdue! We spent eight days soaking up the sun at Aulani Disney Resort and seeing all the sites Oahu has to offer (well...maybe not ALL of them...) Here are some photos of the trip...and by some...I mean a lot... :)
Day One: Traveling to Hawaii!
Waking up at 4:30am on your first day of vacation is a little rough, especially when we were up until 11:00pm doing some last minute packing, but luckily we were so excited for this trip that we didn't mind the early wake up call. Our flight left Kansas City at 7:30am on Friday morning. Michael's dad dropped us off at the airport, which was so helpful! You wouldn't believe how many bags our small family of three required. Between clothes for all of us, our carry-on bags, and then all of Adalee's extra's (carseat, stroller, etc.), I don't know how we even made it to the baggage check area with all of our stuff! From Kansas City, we flew to Dallas, where we met up with my parents and my sister. We were supposed to have a pretty quick turn around in Dallas - just enough time for lunch and some run-around time for Adalee - but we ended up having a four hour delay. Not ideal. On the positive side, Miss Adalee had lots of time to explore and run around, so she did really well on the eight-hour flight to Hawaii - sleeping a majority of the flight and playing quietly for the remainder. Instead of arriving in Hawaii at 3:30pm, we didn't get in until 7:30pm or so - just enough time to get the rental car and make it to the resort before the poolside bar stopped serving dinner at 9:00pm. We were starved. :)

Adalee was so excited for the
first 20 minutes or so...then... |
...out like a light. |
Mommy got a lot of quality snuggle time... |
Day Two: Golfing at Ko Olina and then Resort Time
Good morning at 3:00am! Someone didn't
get the memo on the time change... |
Selfie's with Dad, while trying not to wake up
everyone else! |
Day Three: Hiking at Diamond Head National Park then Waikiki Beach and Resort Time

"Mom, what is this whole sand thing?" |
Outside of the Splash Park, the beach was Adalee's
second favorite hang out spot! |
If I had a dollar for every time this lady tried to eat the sand! |

Visiting the Splash Park again :) |

Beautiful day at the course! And our resort is in the background! |

Then trying for herself... :) |

Day Five: Pearl Harbor Memorial
It is hard to put into words what you feel walking around
Pearl Harbor. One of the most powerful places I have visited.
So much history and so many stories. Very sobering. |
USS Missouri Battleship |
Day Six: Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and then Resort Time and Evening Luau
The beautiful Hanauma Bay - completely worth waking up at 5:00pm
to make the hour and a half drive |
The water was a little cold, but once I worked up the
nerve to actually start swimming, we were able to see
some awesome coral and fish! I even spotted a turtle! |
While Michael, Jess, and I were off snorkeling, Grandma and Grandpa
spent the morning with Adalee. She loved reading books with Grandpa! :) |
Playing on the "Big Kids" playground while it wasn't too
busy! Miss Adalee was a little scared of all the big waterfalls! |
Jess and my Dad paddle boarding at our resort! |
Meanwhile, Adalee and Grandma played
in the sand on the beach |
Sunset Luau at Paradise Cove! |
Day Seven: Breakfast with Mickey and Visit to the North Shore

Walking the beach with Mommy... |
Miss Adalee loved the shaved ice! |

spam-sushi thing... |
Sunset on our final evening! |
Day Eight: Resort Time and Traveling Home
On our last day, we had a lazy morning getting packed
and just hanging out at the resort. Mostly trying to keep
Adalee in the shade, because I didn't want to put sunscreen
on her before being on a plane all night... |
Quality time with Aunt Jess was much needed! |
This picture sums up how we all felt on the last day of
vacation - super tired! - and just needing some snuggle
time with Minnie Mouse... :) |
