Stats:
We had Adalee's 9 Month pediatrician appointment this month on September 10th. Miss Adalee weighed 20.3 pounds and measured 27.5 inches tall. She made a huge jump from being 55th percentile in weight to 75th percentile - very exciting! She also jumped from being 30th percentile in height to 50th percentile. Still no teeth...and while I was convinced that she had already started teething, the doctor thinks that it might still be a while before we see a tooth peek through. Who knows! She is in size three diapers, and is still wearing some of her 9 month clothes, but has mostly made the transition to 12 month - especially with her sleepers!
Eating:
Miss Adalee is still eating lots of baby cereal, veggies, fruits, and meats. She is also taking 4
formula bottles a day, as well as water from her sippy cup at lunch. While most of Adalee's eating habits are the same, there have been a few exciting changes. On the weekends, when we have extra time, we have started trying table food with Miss Adalee. We started with banana, and then tried avocado. She is not too excited about actually eating the table food, but she definitely loves to mush it up with her hands. Trying table food was a little nerve-wrecking for Mom and Dad due to all of the coughing, which made me think that she was choking. However, once I figured out that it was just her learning how to swallow solid food, I got a little less anxious during meal time.

Avocados! Yum! |
Miss Adalee has also started to hold her own bottle! Such a big girl! It makes me sad though, because she no longer wants to be given her bottle while being held at the end of the night. That was always our cuddle time, and now she would rather lie on the floor and hold it herself. I just keep telling myself that she still needs me... :)

Sleeping:
Adalee is still a great sleeper - something that Michael and I continue to be so thankful for. She has also become really great about putting herself to sleep. Whereas we use to rock with her or simply hold her after her last bottle until she fell asleep, now we are able to lay her in her crib while she is still awake and she puts herself to sleep with no fuss. We have a stuffed giraffe that makes white noise hanging from the side of her crib. When we lay her down, she typically crawls over to the corner with the giraffe and strokes the giraffe's foot while sucking her thumb until she falls asleep. It is the cutest thing. Seriously. I can't handle the cuteness.
Speaking of the thumb sucking...now that Miss Adalee has started crawling around, we have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of time she spends sucking her thumb during the day. It is still soothing for her at night, but hey, we are making progress! :)
Playing:
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we officially have an army crawler on our hands! While she is not yet up on her hands and knees to crawl, she does drag herself across the floor using her arms. She also can get up on her hands and knees to rock back and forth - just hasn't taken that next step of actually crawling. I am sure it will happen any day now. We have put up one baby gate and have all the outlets covered, but more baby proofing is definitely needed...and fast! :)
In addition, Miss Adalee has started to growl. Yes...growl. It is the funniest thing. She loves to make growling noises at people. She also still loves to sing along with songs and play hide-and-seek around the living room!
