Family Photos at Kauffman Gardens!

On Adalee's Four Month "Birthday", we made a special trip to Kauffman Gardens for some family photos with Erica from Anecdotally Yours. Michael proposed to me in the Kauffman Gardens, and this was the first time we had been back since that day - almost 4 years ago...crazy! While it was still a little early for the flowers to be in bloom, we had such a fun time enjoying the wonderful spring weather. Miss Adalee struggled to bring out her smiles for the camera, but we got a few good ones along the way! Here are some of our favorites...

I can just imagine Adalee thinking,
"I'm not so sure about this Dad..."

KC on Tap

Michael and I spent time with friends this past Saturday at the KC on Tap Beer Festival. We used to spend a lot of weekends going to different breweries and festivals when we lived in Colorado, so it was fun to be able to that again! Miss Adalee spent the day with Grandma Schultz, and while I definitely had fun at the festival, I was more than ready to see my little lady at the end of the day!

Adalee's Baptism

Miss Adalee was baptized on Sunday, April 19th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. We are so glad to have found such a wonderful faith community in Kansas City! We absolutely love our church and the welcoming atmosphere.

Adalee did so well through out the whole baptismal ceremony and mass. There were no tears and no loud squawks - just a lot of curiosity and looking around! She did get a little startled when Father Raul poured the holy water over her head, but overall, the baptism went perfectly!

Adalee's Art Fair

This past week, Adalee's daycare held an Open House and Art Fair to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. In preparation for the fair, Adalee's class had been doing lots of painting! She had two works of art featured in the fair. We are so proud of our artistic little girl!

Coffee Filter Finger/Fist Painting

Here is how Michael described her first painting when sharing the photo with family: "The small scale and central focus in paintings like this one has impressed younger painters who saw in Adalee's work an aesthetic of process: the painting constitutes an instantaneous record of the particular creative act, the encounter between painter, her unconscious, pigment, and chance. But the controlled frenzy of her artwork defined the gestural branch of Abstract Expressionism. It can also be used to filter your morning grounds into a fresh cup of Joe."

After the Art Fair, Miss Adalee was fairly exhausted...

Happy Easter!

This year, we hosted Easter at our house in Kansas City. My mom and dad came in from Manhattan, and my sister came in from Denver. It was awesome to have the whole family together again! We had a fun and relaxing weekend - lots of good food, fun conversations, and even Miss Adalee's first trip to the KC Zoo! Adalee was very spoiled with her numerous Easter baskets - she is so loved!

Bunny!

During Easter Weekend, Miss Adalee "experienced" the Kansas City Zoo for the first time! I say "experienced" because she slept the entire time and never left her carseat/stroller. Maybe she will actually see some animals next time we go...
